Silver and books at Newman House

TWO fairs will be held in Newman House I tomorrow, one devoted to antiques and collectables, the other given over to books. The former is to feature a large selection of silver and plate, including some early Irish examples and 19th century pieces. Among these items are an Irish silver tazza by Williamson & Williamson of Dublin, dating from circa 1732; a silver teapot from London, dated 1789; and a set of six solid silver fish knives and forks. In addition, there will be Victorian watercolours, Greek and Roman antiquities, jewellery, old linen and lace, militaria, stamps and postal material.

The monthly book fair in the Iveagh Room of Newman House will be attended by dealers from both North and South, including Jim Magill, who specialises in juvenilia and film memorabilia and is bringing a collection of Eleanor Brent Dyer and Ian Fleming first editions. Also there should be plenty of books of Irish interest and some paper ephemera for sale.
