Ulster Hall, Belfast Mon 8.30pm £29/£27 048-90334455It's a big night for the Shine crew as they leave their usual digs at Queen's and take over the recently re-opened Ulster Hall for the night.
As befits the occasion, there’s a special bill, with Minus master Richie Hawtin leading the way. The Canadian DJ and producer has spent his career making innovative tracks under a bevy of artist names (Plastikman remains the best-known), helming nights like this at clubs worldwide and overseeing the Plus 8 and Minus labels. Matthew Dear is also a man of many monikers (including Audion and Jabberjaw) and has recorded for Minus as False. Aside from Audion’s beligerently brilliant cuts (such as Mouth to Mouth), Dear’s finest hour to date was his As a Breed album from 2007, which showed off his winning ways with dark-pop textures. Local interest in the big room will be provided by Phil Kieran, while Twitch takes care of business in the Group Space.
