Suntan lotion? Check. Rain gear? Check. Skis? Check. You can’t be too prepared for an Irish outdoor festival, so the free Oxegen app (once again) proves a must-have. One of my favourite items is the snazzy line- up feature – there’s an attractive, well laid- out timetable that shows every band playing at any one time, and you can highlight favourites to plan your festival in detail. (Whether you actually make it to each band without getting distracted is up to you.) The map is comprehensive and attractively illustrated; there are travel details, news updates, and a photo gallery that you can browse or add to. The survival guide from drinkaware.ie is (contrary to what you might expect) not remotely nagging, and provides a tonne of useful features, especially the checklist of some 20 items you should bring. The same section has camping tips and handy little extras, like GPS for your tent and a torch app.

In short, the Oxegen app is the level- headed friend you never had.
