Obtaining Irish citizenship

ANYBODY married to an Irish citizen for three years is automatically entitled to Irish citizenship

ANYBODY married to an Irish citizen for three years is automatically entitled to Irish citizenship. Those not married to an Irish citizen can apply to the Minister for Justice for Irish citizenship after five years' legal residence in Ireland, although the Department of Justice does not have to give any reason for refusing citizenship. Irish immigration laws do not require the Government to give any reason for refusing to issue a visa and there is no right to appeal the decision of an immigration officer.
