DUPLICITY: Directed by Tony Gilroy. Starring Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Giamatti 12 certGilroy's attempt at a sophisticated romantic caper movie is densely plotted, though not in a way that piques interest or even curiosity, and laden with reams of creaky dialogue that is often pretentious and/or implausible. There is zero chemistry between Roberts and Owen as former government spies embroiled in industrial espionage.
HOTEL FOR DOGS
Directed by Thor Freudenthal. Starring Emma Roberts, Jake T Austin, Kyla Pratt, Lisa Kudrow,Kevin Dillon, Don Cheadle G certLittle Orphan Roberts (useless) and her younger brother gather up the endangered mutts of downtown Los Angeles and house them in a derelict hotel. Kindly social worker Cheadle watches out for their interests. Its about a 10th as entertaining as the title promises, but the DVD does feature "Howl-arious Deleted Scenes".

Binding together a series of decadent lives in 1980s Los Angeles, the film, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger, received some the worst reviews of this (or any other) year on its US release.
