Musicians joined in on April Fools’ Day festivities this week, with Björk, Coldplay and Nine Inch Nails all posting bogus stories on their websites in an effort to trick fans.

“Björk has accepted the position of lead vocalist for legendary Led Zeppelin,” said a post on the Icelandic singer’s website, which went on to say that she had demanded that only songs from the albums I and IV be performed.

Coldplay’s effort to hoodwink the populace was a story about planning to record in zero gravity with Brian Eno on board a Boeing 727. “We’ve been searching for the right environment to record the perfect snare drum sound for many years now,” Chris Martin told Coldplay.com.

Nine Inch Nails took a pop at Chris Cornell’s latest album Scream, a collaboration with Timbaland which has not received particularly favourable reviews. Their “new album”, Strobe Light, also reportedly produced by Timbaland, was available for download from their website and featured a collaboration by “Chris Martin, Jay-Z and Bono”.
