Love Bits

Determined to be indeterminate, Love Bits is lightly described by The Granary as a multi-media exploration of love.

The fragility of this playlet suggests that Low Brow's production is more of a work in progress.

Brilliant attempts to fuse videos, voice-overs, tapes, songs, live percussion (very good, incidentally), walkman, stand-up microphone routines and television advertisements into a coherent commentary don't come off. There is never quite enough of any one of the many ingredients.

The sharp technical editing contrasts effectively with the downbeat dialogue; the cast had fun getting it all more or less together and the audience, also downbeat, enjoyed what there was of sexual comedy. And that's about it, really; except that for the first time in my experience a theatre programme contains an attached condom with an illustrated guide to its proper use. Maybe downbeat isn't the word . . .
