Kassidy

Take a bunch of long-haired blokes from Glasgow, feed them a diet of Crosbie, Stills, Nash & Young, The Band, Flying Burrito Brothers and The Byrds, and watch them shape up. This much-delayed debut album has been highly anticipated. Early reports suggested Kassidy were the missing link between Crazy Horse and The Jayhawks (with a country hint of Kings of Leon), but there is more here than that. Songs such as Waking Up Sidewaysand I Don't Knowdisplay an awareness of roots more than rock, and they can hit you flat in the face with as good a chorus as you've heard in years. Take Another Rideand The Lostmight sway and stagger as they appear under the spell of too many influences, but overall this is a bold statement of intent. See kassidymusic.com
