It’s a weekend focused on youth. The Irish Youth Choir under their dynamic young conductor, Greg Beardsell, sing in Cork, Limerick and Dublin on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland under Garry Walker have pianist Sophie Cashell, the winner of BBC 2’s Classical Star competition in 2007, as soloist in Beethoven’s Second Piano Concerto in Limerick and Dublin on Friday and Saturday.

And tonight the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra under Alan Buribayev (the orchestra’s youngest-ever principal conductor) allows pianist Finghin Collins the opportunity to play

Irish composer Charles Villiers Stanford’s Second Piano Concerto (which he’s performed at the Proms in London and recorded for the RTÉ lyric fm label).
