Irish silver enjoys abiding popularity so there should be no trouble finding buyers for these two items when they come up at auction next week at O'Reilly's of Francis Street, Dublin.

The piece on the left is a George II coffee pot with side handle made by Ralph Woodhouse of Dublin around 1736.

It carries the arms of the Waller family, long-time residents of the early 18th century Shannon Grove in Co Limerick, and is expected to fetch £12,500-£15,000.

To its right is a Georgian twin-handled cup made by Carden Terry of Cork; this carries the much lower pre-sale estimate of ££1,500-£2,000.

Other items in the same auction are more diverse, ranging from a substantial Victorian boardroom table (£2,000-£2,500) to a large 19th century hanging light fitting, originally in the courthouse of Enniskerry village (£600-£800).

Also included in the same event are many lots of jewellery, such as an antique diamond pear-shaped pendant of two carats (£5,000-£6,000); a Victorian five-stone diamond ring (£4,000-£4,500); and a sapphire and diamond bangle dating from circa 1870 (£3,000-£3,500).

This sale takes place on Wednesday, starting at 1 p.m.
