MULLEN Brothers of Oldcastle, Co Meath, will conduct an auction next Tuesday evening, starting at 6.30 p.m., which features plenty of good brown furniture, such as a set of six Victorian mahogany dining chairs, carrying an estimate of £1,000-£1,200, and a Georgian mahogany chest of drawers, expected to make £400-£500.
One rather unusual lot is a large velvet upholstered armchair with carved wing arm supports and hoof feet; reputed to have come from the Hellfire Club, its estimate is £700-£1,000. Other items in this sale include: a Victorian long case clock with painted dial (£600-£800); a William IV mahogany pedestal sideboard (£500-£700); Victorian mahogany double bed ends (£300-£400); and a Dun Emer wool runner some eight and a half feet long and three feet wide (£300-£400).
