Gig of the week

UK-based Australian indie rock act Howling Bells played to a busy Whelans of Wexford Street on Tuesday.

Singer Juanita Stein charmed the crowd with her silky voice and sultry eyes, while guitarist Joel Stein's chords provided real muscle. Though a post-Bank Holiday hangover was detectable in the audience, Howling Bells were a refreshing antidote to the weekend's excesses. Just don't mention the lack of an encore.
