For years, the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com), has been a rejoinder in pub arguments, aggregator of reviews and an answerer to the eternal question, Where have I seen that actor before? But the site is arguably best-known as a source of trivia. Taking advantage of touch-screen functions IMDB Trivia is like a personal movie gameshow. You’re given multiple-choice questions ranging from picture rounds, to pinpointing a quote, to identifying blurred images of actors. In bonus levels, it presents scrolling film titles and you have to pick the common ones within the time limit. It’s a test of both knowledge and skill. The app is free, but additional, paid-for content is available, including TV Favourites and Blockbuster Films. Like the site, it’s all very polished and the trivia obsession is endearing. But why did they lump in TV questions with the film ones in the main quiz? Still, it is slick and fun. By the way, did you know the name Keanu means “cool breeze over mountains” in Hawaiian? You’re welcome.
