Sometimes you just want a nice, simple, alien attack game. Earth Defenderfits the bill. The iPhone/iPad game pits you against the invaders, giving you an arsenal of weapons with which to persuade them they would be better off elsewhere. You get everything from blast bombs and black-hole bombs to electric lightning bombs and a limited stock of superbombs – only to be used as a last resort. The trick here is not to try to carpet-bomb the enemies, but to use tactics and skill to set off chain reactions that will get the maximum amount of damage for as little weapon wastage as possible. You'll have to face a number of bosses along the way, as you progress to the mother ship. You can even share (ie boast about) your achievements online, via links to Twitter and Facebook.
