Victorian silver and art deco clock at the Castle

An art deco mantle clock and a Victorian silver teapot, with accompanying silver and bone cutlery, will be among the items on sale at the Dublin Castle antiques and collectables fair in Dublin tomorrow. There will also be two collections of porcelain, as well as glass and china sets. In addition, Ann Walls is to hold her annual sale of regular stock, including prints of Ireland, hand-coloured botanical images and children's prints.

Gold and silver jewellery, old toys, small furniture, linen and lace are to feature as well at the fair, which opens to the public at 10.30 a.m. in the Castle's Old Coachhouse.

Bailey Fairs, which has been running antiques fairs in Britain for the past 13 years, is holding its first such event in Dublin next week at the Burlington Hotel. Exhibitors are a mixture of Irish and overseas dealers, with the Republic represented by, among others, Paddy Fitzgerald of Upper Court Manor, William Flynn and Timepiece. Opening to the public on Wednesday afternoon, the fair continues until Sunday week.

18th-century Irish glass to be exhibited in Dublin

Beaufield Mews in Stillorgan, Co Dublin, is holding a week-long exhibition of Irish glass from next Tuesday. Among the earliest pieces on display are bowls and decanters from Waterford, Cork and Belfast dating from circa 1790, together with oval and round-cut 19th-century bowls. There will also be early Irish mirrors, goblets and sets of early Cork and Waterford cordial glasses, and a glass dish or potato ring, produced in response to silversmith's tableware.
