Strahan table, Killarney worktable among top lots

Strahan table, Killarney worktable among top lots

Cork auctioneers O'Regans are holding a sale on the company's premises next Thursday where the lots will be a mixture of house contents from city and county. Among these is an early Victorian dining table by Strahan of Dublin and a profusely decorated Killarney worktable. Both of such items never fail to attract bids, as should a set of 10 early Victorian dining chairs and a William IV cellaret. Other interesting lots include a William IV chiffonier, a Regency Pembroke table, a Victorian three-door bookcase and an Irish circular rug, 15 feet in diameter with Greek key border and an oriental motif. The sale starts at 11 a.m.

Only Waterford vase of its kind is to be sold

The contents of Tournore House, Dungarvan, come up for sale next Tuesday, as auctioneers P.F. Quirke dispose of more than 700 lots. Items of particular note include a number of pieces of William IV furniture, such as a single pod mahogany teatable, a rosewood centre table and a mahogany service table. Of particular interest to local buyers will be a Waterford cut and engraved glass vase, the centre reserve bearing the Dungarvan coat of arms surrounded by a diamond decoration. The auctioneers believe this to be the only such vase in existence. The sale also offers other pieces of Waterford glass, chandeliers and candelabra, as well as items of Meissen and Belleek.
