We can all relax. Creation, Jon Amiel's film about Charles Darwin's great indecision, has picked up a US distributor. Jeremy Thomas, the picture's veteran producer, had suggested that the delay in securing a deal must have been connected to the resurgence in Creationism. "In the US, outside of New York and LA, religion rules," he fumed.
Well, in a neat little irony, Newmarket Pictures, the company that finally bought Creation, is the same entity that distributed Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christin the US. Just to add to the oddness, Icon Films, which distributed Creation in this territory, is the distribution wing of the company that produced The Passion.
So, Mr Gibson, co-founder of Icon, was behind the whole thing all along. It's like The Da Vinci Code. Well isn't it?
