A report in the editions of April 26th said the Department of Health and Children had promised the High Court approximately 200 extra high support or secure residential places for children. In fact, the Department has sanctioned 108 extra places which it aims to provide by 2001. When added to the 49 places which already exist, this will bring the total number of such places to 157.
