In an article in last Saturday's editions under the heading "Senators adjourn with promise of busy autumn" it was stated that the Cathaoirleach had noted that the Seanad in a very busy year had had "a regular number of sitting days". This should have read "a record number of sitting days".
A report in yesterday's editions on research carried out by International Prison Watch in 51 countries said: "Young prisoners in the State are frequently housed with adults . . ." The words "in the State" should not have been included in this sentence which referred, in fact, to the general research. The error occurred in the editing process.
Where errors occur it is the policy of The Irish Times to correct or clarify as soon as practicable.
