A leading article headed "Marking the Exams", in yesterday's editions, may have implied that 52 scripts out of 220 from one examiner were upgraded by 15 per cent or more. In fact, the Department of Education stated that 52 candidates out of 365 successful appeals in Leaving Certificate Higher Level English were upgraded by 15 per cent or more. Because of the nature and number of successful appeals arising from one examiner's markings, all 220 scripts from that examiner were re-marked and this resulted in an upgrade for a further 15 candidates who had not appealed.

In an article on home births in the editions of September 13th, it was stated that home births were offered in the midwife-led unit of Altnagelvin hospital in Derry.

It has been brought to our attention that the unit does not include home births. Delivery takes place in the midwifery-led unit which is within the main obstetric unit in the hospital.

The Book of the Day review on October 1st of Invisible Republic: Bob Dylan's Basement Tapes was by Alex Moffatt, not Tony ClaytonLea, as stated.
