Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilionhas been heralded as 2009's Album of the Year, according to HMV's Poll of Polls.

The annual list collates the end-of-year rankings given to albums by music writers and other online sources in the UK and Ireland. The Brooklyn- based band pipped the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' It's Blitzto the post, while The xx, Dirty Projectors and Grizzly Bear rounded up the top five.
