The prospect of Jim Carrey and Jodie Foster collaborating on a movie may seem unlikely, but both are in negotiations for The Beaver, with Foster to direct and Carrey to play a toy manufacturer who relies on his beaver hand puppet for company.

It will be Foster's third outing as a director after the promising Little Man Tate(1991) and the anodyne Home for the Holidays(1995).
