TELECOMS COMPANY Avaya is cutting 64 jobs from the workforce at its operation in Sandyford, south Dublin.

The group, which is owned by two US private equity companies, is consolidating its functions with an operation it owns in Galway.

In a statement last night, the company said it planned to consolidate its research and development facilities in Ireland. “As part of the consolidation plan, Avaya will withdraw all existing research and development work from the Dublin site and transfer all research and development operations to the Galway facility, where some additional Avaya functions are also located.

“Only research and development employees based in Dublin are affected by this consolidation. Avaya continues to invest in its Irish operations, and will complete its consultation process with all affected employees to ensure a smooth transition,” it said.
