SOFTWARE START-UP Incaplex, which specialises in travel medicine, has entered into a partnership with Irish-owned healthcare software company Helix Health. The move is to integrate its travel vaccination application into Helix’s pharmacy and GP software packages.

The deal will help Incaplex fast-track its way onto the Irish market and open up new export possibilities.

Irish-owned Helix Health is the leading provider of primary and secondary healthcare software solutions in Ireland, and Incaplex came to the attention of Helix chief executive Howard Beggs (right) at a presentation to the Irish Software Association.

Helix liked the look of Incaplex’s Inca Clinic product, which simplifies the travel vaccination process for health professionals by managing patient vaccine schedules, vaccine stock and administration, and travel medication prescriptions. Helix has about 80 per cent of the GP and pharmacy software market here and also has a presence in the UK and the Middle East.

“What Helix liked about us, was the fact that our product was very specialised and a good add-on for them,” said Incaplex chief executive, Richard Boyd. “For a small company like ours, partnering is the way to build our business as going it alone is a very long route to market. The roll-out will be in Ireland initially and then, hopefully, to other markets, and the partnership is a revenue share.”
