Hope for HMV’s Irish stores

Restructuring specialist Hilco is in negotiations with landlords with a view to reestablishing HMV in the Republic.

Declan Stone of Colliers International confirmed yesterday that the company is planning to open up to six stores and said he is currently in talks with landlords in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick.

They would be offered a realistic rent for their premises as well as a top-up element which was now a feature of most retail lettings. HMV had been operating 16 stores across the State until February last when it went into receivership.
