The Frankfurt stock market stood still despite a substantial amount of company news, and the DAX finished the official session at 2,426.49 points, up a mere O.11 point from the Wednesday close. Traders said the Bundesbank's decision yesterday to keep interest rates unchanged had been expected and did not influence the market.
CAC-40:1962.41 (+18.11)
The Paris market recorded a sizeable gain as the CAC-40 index finished the day at 1962.41 points, up 0.93 per cent from the Wednesday close, though the market had been hesitant for most of the day. It moved markedly higher at the announcement that US wholesale prices had dipped by 0.2 per cent in February from January, though a rise had been anticipated. Trading was quiet with share volume of around 3.8 billion francs.
Mibtel:9429 (+12)
The Milan market managed a small gain after having been down in the morning while waiting for Wall Street's opening. The Mibtel index gained 12 points to end at 9429, while share volume was on the low side at 400 billion lire.
