FAS warns of labour shortages in retailing

 

A bad image, the end of the baby boom and new career options elsewhere for young people could cause future labour shortages in the retail sector, the State training and employment authority FAS has warned. The agency's Retail Advisory Committee last night called for a number of initiatives, by both trades unions and employers, to attract workers to the sector. It also said a "sea-change in attitudes" from educational institutions was required.
