The number of companies failing in the Republic has increased again, according to the latest figures from Dun & Bradstreet. At the same time the number of companies and firms collapsing in Northern Ireland has declined sharply.

Business failures in the Republic increased 1 per cent to 178 while Northern Ireland business failures decreased by more than 30 per cent to 76 in the first three months of 1999.
