Building materials group CRH has appointed Swiss businessman Ernst Bärtschi as a non-executive director.

Mr Bärtschi is chief executive of Sika, which manufactures speciality chemicals for construction and general industry.

Before working for Sika, Mr Bärtschi was chief financial officer of the Schindler group.
