The jury in the £760 million fraud trial of Achilleas Kallakis was sent home yesterday having so far failed to reach a verdict on its second day of deliberations.

Jurors have yet to reach a verdict in the complex four- month fraud case, for which Mr Kallakis and co-defendant Alexander Williams stand accused of defrauding AIB out of £740 million and the Bank of Scotland out of a further £25 million obtained using guarantees alleged to be fake. Both deny the charges.

The jury at Southwark crown court in London will resume deliberations today.
