An interim examiner has been appointed to DIY company Atlantic Homecare.

Mr Justice McGovern this morning granted an order appointed Declan McDonald of PriceWaterhouseCoopers as interim examiner.

The company, which is owned by the Grafton Group, said business had been severely impacted by the recession, especially by a decline in new housebuilding and refurbishment.

The company accounts for 2.75 per cent of Grafton's revenue and has traded a loss since 2007.
