BNP Paribas Real Estate is seeking €1.6 million for Bloomfield House, a two-storey office building dating from 1934, at Bloomfield Avenue off South Circular Road in Dublin 8.
The building was originally built for use as a Jewish school to accommodate 400 students in 13 different classrooms. It operated under the patronage of Rabbi Hertzog who lived on Bloomfield Avenue with his family including his son Chaim Hertzog who later became the sixth president of Israel in 1983.
Offices on the first floor of the building have been let since the 1970s to Delap Waller, mechanical and electrical engineers, on a flexible lease at a rent of €50,000 per annum.
Keith O’Neill of BNP say that the ground floor of the 880sq m (9,500sq ft) building requires some improvements but could be used by third-level college, creche or for companies that “are just looking for something a little bit different and quirky that makes them stand out from the norm”.A large yard at the rear of the building can accommodate up to 15 cars.
If the building is not sold, BNP will consider letting it at €160 per sq m (€15 per sq ft).
