Banks tipped despite showing

Dolmen Butler Briscoe has been issuing share recommendations both in the Irish and UK market. Despite the weak performance of the banks, it suggests investors should buy Anglo Irish Bank, Bank of Ireland, First Active and Irish Life & Permanent. Other stocks favoured include, CRH, DCC, Elan, Golden Vale, Grafton, Green Property, IAWS, Iona, Irish Continental Group and Jefferson Smurfit.

The broker has also issued two sell recommendations, advising investors to get out of Glanbia and Lamont. And looking at the UK, Dolmen Butler Briscoe, rates Barclays, Bass, BP Amoco, BSkyB, Cable & Wireless, Carlton, NatWest, Pearson, Royal Bank of Scotland, Shell and Tesco as a buy. Those making the sell list include Alliance & Leicester, Association British Foods, British Airways, Colt Telecom, Marks & Spencer and Norwich Union.
