JASON WEAVER finished in joint ninth place in the 12-rider young jockeys world championship at Nakayama in Japan this weekend after drawing a poor book of mounts.

He finished on 18 points, with his best effort in the four-race competition a fifth place on Born Liar's in the Celebration Cup.

Victory in the two-day event went to home rider Minoru Yoshida, who beat the American pair John Velazquez and Joseph Bravo.
