Elm Park surrendered their title when the Leinster qualifying round of the Barton Shield was completed at Forrest Little last weekend. The holders went down by four holes to the students of UCD, who beat Skerries in the fourth round to qualify for the play-off at Portmarnock golf club on the 4th and 5th of August. Previous winners Greystones also qualified for a meeting with Co Louth.
The line-up for Portmarnock is: Greystones v Co Louth; Old Conna v Mullingar; Newlands v Waterford and Portmarnock v UCD.
The qualifying round for the St Anne's Father and Son open matchplay, sponsored by Kelly Systems, takes place on Saturday, June 24th. Sixty four pairs will qualify for the matchplay rounds beginning on Monday June 26th. The final is scheduled for Saturday July 1st. Entry forms are available at 01-8336471.
