SOCCER: PSV Eindhoven v Rangers:RANGERS HAVE become so familiar with playing the second legs of European ties away from home that their match with PSV Eindhoven today could prompt confusion. Walter Smith's team – depleted by injury – will take to the field in the Netherlands seeking to keep the Europa League last-16 tie alive before the return game at Ibrox next week.

During their run to the 2008 Uefa Cup final Rangers excelled when playing at home first. “In the European games, trying to get a goal away from home has a big influence on how the games are played,” Smith said. “We would hope to do that; we managed to get two in Lisbon (in the last round), so hopefully we can do enough in tomorrow night’s game to try and get a goal here.”

Smith has been boosted by the travelling of Kyle Lafferty and Vladimir Weiss to Eindhoven. The striker has been sidelined with tonsillitis but travelled with the rest of the team yesterday morning.

Smith is also hoping Weiss will recover from a bruised foot in time for the game and he will be assessed after training. Kyle Hutton (20 ) has become the latest youngster to commit to Rangers after signing a new deal.
