SPANISH LA LIGA:GOALS FROM Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon gave La Liga leaders Real Madrid a 2-1 comeback win at Real Mallorca after a gritty display on Saturday night while Barcelona defeated Real Betis 4-2 last night.

Mallorca’s Israel forward Tomer Hemed’s superb glancing header gave the home side a shock lead over Madrid six minutes before the break but Real substitute Higuain levelled with a deflected strike 18 minutes from time.

Callejon grabbed the winner for the visitors in the 85th minute when he ran on to a loose ball and fired home to the Mallorca goal.

Two goals from Lionel Messi helped Barcelona to their victory.

Hernandez Xavi opened the scoring in the 10th minute at Camp Nou and Barcelona were two up through Messi just a couple of minutes later.

Betis got one goal back when Ruben Castro struck before half-time and equalised via a Rogue Santa Cruz strike.

Alexis Sanchez gave Barcelona the lead again in the 75th minute and Messi then got his second when he scored from a penalty.

Third-placed Valencia missed the chance to stay in touch with the leaders when they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Real Sociedad in Saturday’s late kick-off.
