Carlow SFC Final replay/ Éire Óg 4-9 Palatine 1-9: Éire Óg corner forward Eric McCormack struck two goals in the opening nine minutes in this replay at Dr Cullen Park yesterday to undermine defending champions Palatine and set his side on the way to a record 24th senior championship, their first having been claimed in 1960.

McCormack struck for a cleverly taken goal in the third minute and then followed with a ninth-minute penalty for a foul on Jody Morrissey as he was about to find the net from close range.

Éire Óg led 2-3 to 0-2 at half-time and there was no way back for Palatine despite an outstanding performance from centre back Joe Byrne.
