Louth's crown

Despite their slow start Louth came from behind to win the All-Ireland junior title at Croke Park yesterday. Inside the opening 10 minutes Roscommon had opened up a 1-3 to 0-0 lead, their goal coming from impressive corner forward, Regina Carley. Indeed, the Connacht champions might have been further in front were it not for the heroics of goalkeeper Lynn Savage.

Elaine Rogan's goal direct from a 40-metre free settled Louth after their shaky start and by the interval they only trailed by a solitary point 14 to 1-5. Louth capitalised on the wind in the second and half and both Nuala Murphy and Roisin Hanlon rattled the net to put Louth five points clear. A late Rogan goal sealed victory.
