Members of the Enniscorthy Golf Club have got a resident professional at last. The first at the club in 72 years! Twice former Irish PGA champion Martin Sludds signed up last weekend - ending his career as a touring professional - and will be at the service of the members in future. "I'm delighted to have settled down in Enniscorthy," enthused Sludds (37), who has been a touring player since he joined the paid ranks in 1983. "I have played tournament golf since I turned pro but it was time to settle down."
Sludds won the Irish PGA Championship at Skerries in 1984 and at the K Club in 1993. Before that he had established himself as one of the leading amateurs in the British Isles having collected the Lytham Trophy and the East of Ireland Championship in 1982.
