Erin's Own have caused a major controversy in Cork by refusing to play their county hurling championship quarter-final against Newtownshandrum at Páirc Uí Chaoimh yesterday evening.
A club egm voted unanimously on Friday night not to fulfil the fixture because of injuries sustained by Brian Corcoran and Kieran Murphy during Cork's All-Ireland semi-final win over Clare.
Erin's Own wrote to the county board last Monday outlining their intentions and sought a postponement at a board meeting on Tuesday. They managed to get a simple majority in a vote to have the game postponed, but not the required two-thirds.
Cork champions Na Piarsaigh surrendered their title at the weekend, losing by 1-11 to 1-9 to UCC. St Finbarr's reached the last four with a 2-14 to 1-13 victory over Blackrock, while Cloyne defeated Sarsfields 6-9 to 0-8.
Meanwhile, the executive of Kilmacud Crokes meet tonight to decide whether to accept the offer from St Brigid's to replay their Dublin championship tie from last May or contest the decision further with the dispute resolution authority (DRA).
The case regarding the eligibility of Crokes player Mark Vaughan has already been before the DRA when they stated the player was allowed to play in the said match. Vaughan kicked 1-6 as Crokes won by a point.
Vaughan was sent off in the Leinster club defeat to Portlaoise last year, but the DRA ruled he was to serve the one-match suspension in the provincial, not the county, club championship.
The women's All-Ireland football quarter-final between Dublin and Tyrone will be played before Saturday's All-Ireland football quarter-final replay between the same teams at Croke Park.
