Sir, - I applaud the analysis of the potential collapse facing Irish tourism next year in your Editorial, "Serious risk to tourism" (September 26th).

The Government and the industry must act now if a disaster costing Ireland up to 20,000 job losses is to be averted. Ryanair has guaranteed to bring a million additional passengers to Ireland next year, and a further million in the following year.

We have a proven track record of opening new routes, delivering growth and tourism. We are continuing to stimulate travel and economic activity, even after September 11th.

What in the name of God is the Minister for Public Enterprise waiting for? - Yours, etc.
