Sir, - I believe I can speak for many nationalists in the Six Counties in expressing my disappointment at the blatantly partitionist comments made by the presidential candidate Mary Banotti on RTE's Questions and Answers last Monday. By attacking Mary McAleese, firstly with a prejudiced claim that Northerners' understanding of PR voting is limited to its application on this side of the Border and secondly with her derisory reference to Belfast, Mrs Banotti made it apparent that she intends to become the first President of a 26-county Ireland. - Yours, etc.
