Sir, - As a person who purports to crave media privacy, Mrs Geoghegan-Quinn is doing a remarkable job of keeping her name in lights via her weekly column in The Irish Times. Through this medium she feels free to comment on all and sundry, in an objective manner, of course. Until last Saturday, that is, when her column was wholly subjective in her rush to distance herself from the regime that she was quite willing to support in order to advance her own political ambitions.

What surprised me was the fact that she did not go further in her vindictive piece on her former mentor by pleading the ultimate excuse of whose who would desert sinking (in this case, sunken) ships: "I was only obeying orders". - Le Meas, F. RUSSELL, Navan Road, Dublin 15.
