Madam, - Fiona Ryan's letter of May 1st on the hazards of cycling on the Rock Road cycle lanes ring very true. Indeed, the almost total lack of enforcement of the bus/cycle lane makes it more dangerous than a normal lane, particularly on the stretch outside Blackrock College.
The relatively empty bus/cycle lane allows motorists to drive at great speed between the line of stopped heavy traffic and the footpath, breaking two or three laws simultaneously. I cycle this route every day, and most days I am pushed to one side by one or more speeding cars. It is only a matter of time before a cyclist is killed or badly injured. - Yours, etc,
