Sir, - I am thrilled that the citizens of Dublin will be put, however temporarily, on an equal footing with the residents of the mid-west ("Sexual tourist?", Weekend, June 5th). The Hunt Museum, Limerick - the gift of the late John and Gertrude Hunt through their children Trudy and John Hunt has - on permanent display - a work by Paul Gauguin, a monotype with additional hand-colouring by the artist, which the tourist, sexual or otherwise, may see in the Captains' Room in the Hunt Museum on a daily basis. To be fair to your writer I have only recently put it back on display and it is in the same room as a major work by Roderic O'Conor - also a Hunt gift. So viewing it may add to the greater knowledge of those interested in the works by Gauguin, including your distinguished critic. - Yours, etc., Ciaran MacGonigal,
Director, The Hunt Museum, Rutland Street, Limerick.
