Sir, – I concur with Gerry Murphy's plea that local authorities should publish CCTV images of owners whose dogs foul public areas (April 18th).
As a daily runner, I would also hope that the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company would now deploy CCTVs to capture images of dog owners who think that the notices that dogs must be kept on a leash on the pier apply to other people only. Furthermore, these images should be published on social media.
Dogs cannot read notices, but their owners can. It may be that on the internet nobody knows you’re a dog, but people should know if you are an offending dog owner. – Yours, etc,
