Sir, - The Irish Catholic Bishops' Conference is currently preparing a pastoral document on the theme, "Christian faith and values in a time of rapid economic expansion".
The document will reflect on the opportunities and difficulties being created by the recent unprecedented economic growth in the Republic. The bishops hope the document will help develop a common commitment to ensuring that our increased prosperity is used to enhance the quality of life, in a meaningful sense, for everyone. The document will also touch on the implications of the economic changes in the Republic for the island as a whole.
The bishops are undertaking a consultation process to develop their understanding of the economic change and to learn about various perspectives on this.
Written submissions are invited from individuals and organisations on any aspect of the theme of the planned pastoral document.
