Sir, – I think it is critical that we change the current of public discourse – which is, in my view, very sad, and tending toward a quality of quiet resignation.

Somehow, we need to re-activate in the public imagination a picture of a sustainable, prosperous, and happy society, where the increases in productivity that have come with technological advancement over the past century translate into better quality of life, increased leisure time and abundance, like we were promised, rather than layers of debt, bureaucracy, and service jobs.

What people don’t understand any more is that society could be amazing.

This is why I believe our society has now reached a dead-end, unless we can fire people up with this kind of idea. Ultimately, society is created by our collective mind. Not enough is being said about “liberty” or “freedom” in the flow of public discourse. We are all scared, indebted, and weary. This low vibrational level is not consonant with the qualities of courage, creative flair and joy, which fit a free and happy people.

We are a society that no longer has a dream, and that is killing us. It is killing our nationhood. We feel we have nowhere to go. We have been convinced that we have no options.

It is my hope that enough people sense now, at some level, that the cultural patterns by which we live have flaws and that we can begin the process of repairing them.

It is my strong desire that we regain confidence in our ability to determine our own future. This is something that we have progressively lost since independence, a century ago. Time to get it back. – Yours, etc,
