Madam, – On the advice of my GP, I recently entered into the care of Tallaght hospital, through AE. During my time there I received the best of care and attention, both medical and generally, from all the staff. I have nothing but the height of respect for all of them.

Now to the nub of the matter, AE. When I entered AE I was immediately seen by the triage nurse, who was excellent. My progress through AE was then delayed by some three hours as my file was filed in the wrong numerical order.

On entering into AE proper, I was, at best, shocked by the conditions therein. I would not expect animals to be so treated.

I found myself during the night moved three times. On the middle move my left foot was opposite a public toilet door and my right ear beside a door that constantly rattled. I was finally moved to a ward at 3pm the following day. By comparison, this was comfortable, I was minded and cared for.

I challenge any Minister or TD to enter AE (Tallaght) for two days and nights and be treated as other patients. Come on, your summer holidays are nigh. Action should be taken to ensure fair play for all. – Yours, etc,
